Fundraising for 2020 Recipient, Huntleigh Rose
It is July in Cincinnati, and that means we are longing for softball. It is so difficult not to be at Spoils Field this summer, as we have for the past 40 years.
Though we are looking forward to holding the Denny Buehler Memorial Tournament (DBMT) in 2021, there is a need in our community we would like to meet now. We have chosen Huntleigh Rose as our 2020 recipient. Huntleigh was born with brain malformation, which requires her to receive around the clock care. Hntleigh’s mother, Tess Enderle, writes:
When Huntleigh was born she was completely purple and was unable to breathe. She was quickly rushed to the NICU and was intubated. The next day they took the breathing tube out and realized the problem was bigger than they thought. Not even 18 hours after being born we were getting transferred to Cincinnati Children’s NICU for further care.
Huntleigh will be under the care of Children’s Hospital until she turns 18. Since her mother is providing most of Huntleigh’s care, she is unable to work. That is why I’m reaching out to you today. Normally we raise funds for our recipient by hosting the DBMT. This year is different, and your support is crucial.
Since we can’t hold the tournament, we are trying some new things to raise funds for Huntleigh. The tournament is always held the weekend after 4th of July weekend, so most events will be taking place then. Here’s a rundown of what will be happening:
Ø We will be airing classic games from previous tournaments courtesy of Waycross Community Cable on our Facebook page. These will air leading up to and following tournament weekend. Find us on Facebook at Facebook.com/DBMFCincinnati
Ø We will host two Facebook Live events featuring live local music. These will take place Thursday, July 9 and Sunday, July 12 from 4-8:30 pm.
Ø A virtual silent auction will be held on our website. Bid on items including pet grooming services, photo packages, jewelry, clothing, tattoos, and more! Access the auction on our website DennyBuehler.org/auction
Ø We are hosting a Rocket League tournament on Sunday, July 26 beginning at noon. Rocket League is a video game available on various gaming platforms. Teams of 2 will compete in a single elimination tournament. Suggested donation for entry is $20 per team. Each winner receives a $50 Amazon gift card.
