Dave Elsbrock
2024 DBMT Recipient
We are excited to give our support to this year’s recipients, Dave Elsbrock.
Dave and his extended family have been part of the tournament from the very beginning, supporting the first Denny Buehler Memorial Tournament in 1980. Dave had a level 4 stroke in November of 2023, and was not found or able to seek help for 2 days. Following 57 days in the hospital and several surgeries, Dave was moved to a rehabilitation center and then finally to a nursing home.
Dave has many lingering effects of the stroke, including being paralyzed on the right side of his body and loss of the ability to speak (aphasia). He is able to communicate using an iPad. Dave’s recovery looks promising, but there is a long road to go…he will need assistance and plans to live with his sister when he is able to leave the nursing facility. His financial situation will be tough as he will be unable to work and the medical bills will be large.
